Treading Water
Countries were built
By those escaping tyranny,
Bureaucracy, red-tape, taxes
And wing nut regulations,
Now here we are treading water,
Has what we thought we left behind
Followed us,
Or did it arrive before us
And tempt us with illusions,
Or have the ancient in-bred bloodlines
Infiltrated and manipulated what we thought
Was freedom,
Treading water and thinking
About the US and Canadian Governments,
Are they infiltrated, manipulated, controlled,
Or simply highly educated insidiously stupid.
