It wasn’t hate
it wasn’t love
It was questions,
Can too much of either
Morph into the other,
How big an asshole
Does one have to be
To support and cheer on
Idiots shelling a nuclear plant,
What form of murder and destruction
Is saner than another,
When are lies and deception
Not lies and deception,
Are we no better than
The things we observe and study,
Like the ants marching through the grass
Gathering slaves, food, bits and pieces,
Picked off by everyone’s darling,
The rocking robin,
Unaware of the cat
Salivating in the shadows,
Is everything simply
Something else’s
Dinner
