Safe And Convenient
Most people believed
That their smart appliances,
Devices and phones only listened
When you spoke directly to them,
Cameras only came on at your command,
Never realized their television might be watching
Them as intently as they were watching it,
Like the medications, injections, and
Boosters everything was for their
Own safety and convenience,
The coming chip implants would say
Goodbye to keys, wallets, cards and
All the paraphernalia one had to carry around,
Most never thought about the possibility
Of their doors locking only from the outside.

Beneath our feet
Grinding, crumbling, groaning,
Plates sliding, slipping, sticking,
Above, governments confused,
Deceiving, plotting, scheming,
With good, bad, no intentions,
The sane among us sit in the sun
Sipping tea and coffee resigned
To the fact that sooner or later
Something has to give.
